Freiberger Lebensmittel GmbH & Co. KG, founded by Ernst Freiberger in 1976, has just expanded its cold store capacity at its Muggensturm plant. The foodstuffs manufacturer is the global market leader in the production of frozen pizzas for retailer private labels.
In order to meet growing demands, Freiberger is investing in a state-of-the-art, fully automated high bay warehouse for buffer stocks.
Working together with Körber, the general contractor on this project, three 32 m high storage and retrieval machines (SRM) have now been installed in the building. DAMBACH’s installation crew lifted in the SRM modules via the gable wall, which enabled the work on site to be kept to a minimum.
The new cold store has 8856 storage positions on an area of 1150 m².
The storage of frozen foodstuffs requires a constant operating temperature of -24°C. All the subassemblies of DAMBACH SRMs relevant to cold store operations are fully designed for reliable operation in the toughest conditions.
To ensure fast availability of goods and efficient storage, the general contractor chose aisle-bound single-mast SRMs from the MONO series. Their good performance and the secure handling of unit loads with DAMBACH’s load-handling attachments were also important criteria.
